Title: Guidelines for reporting
Post by: spacemud on October 03, 2009, 08:05:37 PM
Hi!

This board is where you should report any malicious players if /report yields no response ingame, or admins who abuse their commands.

Give it a relevant title. Threads named 'OMG HELP' will be closed and ignored.

We request you to put the name of the rulebreaker in the title, spelled correctly, so if the reported person is active in the forums he's more likely to find out a report has been made about him, and so the report of a certain person can easily be looked up by the reported person himself or by admins who handle ban appeals.

Reports will be either approved or disapproved and will be moved to their respective childboards. Therefore, please make a seperate report for each rulebreaker instead of several rulebreakers in the same report.

Please use one of these following formats when creating a new thread:

Quote
IMPORTANT:
Use this format when you don't want your report to affect your ETF progress, regardless of the reason, however you can specify it if you want to. (WHAT IS ETF? ([url]http://xmovieserver.com/forum/index.php/topic,4573[/url]))
Code: [Select]
[b]Name of rulebreaker:[/b]
[b]Date of incident:[/b]
[b]Short explanation of events:[/b]
[b]Evidence (video, screenshots, ...):[/b]

[b]I do not want this report to count for my ETF progress. Reason (optional):[/b]

Quote
IMPORTANT:
Use this reporting format when you want your report to affect your ETF progress, making yourself fully responsible for the effect the evidence in your report will have on your progress. (WHAT IS ETF? ([url]http://xmovieserver.com/forum/index.php/topic,4573[/url]))
Code: [Select]
[b]Name of rulebreaker:[/b]
[b]Date of incident:[/b]
[b]Short explanation of events:[/b]
[b]Evidence (video, screenshots, ...):[/b]

Screenshots or videos are required for every report. If you fail to provide valid evidence, your report will be disapproved.

Making fake proof of someone cheating will be discovered and will be punished with a ban.

Players who make many valid reports of cheaters will be rewarded with the 'ETF-Moderator' status, which gives them the ability to ban. Find out more about this status by clicking here. (http://xmovieserver.com/forum/index.php/topic,4573.0.html)

Update:

Below are some useful things to know that can help you in making valid reports:

-Admitting to cheating is not a valid ban reason because this could be meant as a joke or bluff and taken out of context.
-It is possible to have weapons during the countdown of a copchase. However, using these weapons to cause a fire is not allowed.
-It is possible to get armed vehicles (Rhino, Hunter, Hydra, Seasparrow, etc.) in the spawn area by using a bug.
-Jetpacks can be invisible to other players due to a bad synch, making it look like flying hacks. This video shows what it looks like:
[url]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lX8hz8vW8Ww&feature=youtu.be[/url] ([url]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lX8hz8vW8Ww&feature=youtu.be[/url])
-Weapons can be spawned in the spawn area in other worlds than world 0. Make sure it is clear in your evidence that the world is 0 (for example by making the xMovie sign or the spawn pick-ups visible).
-The locations where minigames are played can obviously also be accessed in normal worlds, where players are allowed to use all of the commands. If you report someone for cheating in a minigame, make sure it is clear in your evidence that it occurred in a minigame and not in a normal world.
-When someone uses fake-kill hacks (which shows many kills in just a few seconds), the cheater is usually the victim of the kills (on the right side in the kill log), and not the killer.
-The minigun symbol in the kill log can also indicate a kill by a Hunter machinegun and does not always indicate weapon cheats.

However, there is a distinction in kill messages on IRC, which makes screenshots of minigun kills from IRC valid evidence.

Updated - used BBcode (code) for the template so people can copy-paste it easier.
