Tips to create valid evidence of cheaters

This topic contains tips about how to make evidence for forum reports. At the bottom of this topic, there's a list of cheats with their descriptions and tips to detect and make valid evidence of someone using them.

There are many kinds of cheats that players use and here is a list of some:
  • Health hacks
  • Armor hacks
  • Troll hacks (troll.cs)
  • Weapon hacks
  • Aimbot
  • Rapidfire
  • AirBreak / speed hacks
  • Fake kill hacks
  • Bot spawner hacks
  • Teleport hacks
  • Other forbidden modifications not mentioned above

Bug abuses:
  • Abusing the copchase world
  • Causing fire at the beginning of a copchase

When you see someone hacking, don't start shouting about it in the chat because the cheater might see it and as a reaction quit the game before you can even get proper evidence for your report, thus you wasted a good chance to ban a hacker and help the server. Instead, you can just quietly spectate (/spec) the individual as long as he is in the main world. The disadvantage here is that you cannot spectate in private worlds or minigame worlds for privacy purposes (unless you are VIP or admin).

However, if it happens that you suspect someone to cheat in a copchase, you can join it yourself and follow him while you film or take screenshots of his actions. Usually it's recommended to make a short video of it because it's much easier to see the hacks this way. You should take screenshots ONLY when the hacks are obvious and cannot be confused with commands in the server or bugs in the game. For example: holding any kind of weapon in the spawnpoint in world 0 would most likely be clear enough in a screenshot.
If it happens that you know there's a hacker in a certain unknown world, you can't really do much about it if you don't know their world number, besides reporting it ingame. Fortunately they won't disturb others as long as they are in a private world, but they should still get banned.

Admitting to cheating is not a valid ban reason because this could be meant as a joke or bluff and taken out of context.

It is possible to get armed vehicles (Rhino, Hunter, Hydra, Seasparrow, etc.) in the spawn area by using a bug. This is only against the rules when the player who uses them was previously warned by an admin not to do this, or when it is used to attack others.

The locations where minigames are played can obviously also be accessed in normal worlds, where players are allowed to use all of the commands. If you report someone for cheating in a minigame, make sure it is clear in your evidence that it occurred in a minigame and not in a normal world.

Health hacks
What is it: Recovers your health or makes it impossible to lose health.
How to detect it: Shoot the suspected player and watch if his health goes down. If it does, watch if he recovers it.
How to get evidence: It's HIGHLY unlikely to get a good evidence by taking screenshots here, so please make a video of it.
Good example: VIDEO
Bad example: VIDEO (That player must have used /g command to never lose health in the main worlds.)
Additional information: N/A.

Armor hacks
What is it: Gets you armor or restores it.
How to detect it: The armor is displayed above the healthbar above everyone's head with a white bar.
How to get evidence: A screenshot is enough in this case, but you can also film it.
Good example: SCREENSHOT
Bad example: SCREENSHOT (The player has armor, however the screenshot could have been taken in the main world which would be insufficient evidence because you're allowed to use /armor in the main world.)
Additional information: You CANNOT have armor in the minigames without hacks.

Troll hacks
What is it: Allows you to control cars of other players, you can make them fly at high speeds and put them on fire.
How to detect it: Look for anyone who isn't affected by the hack as this might be the cheater. Try to isolate a suspected player and provoke him so he will use his hacks on you.
How to get evidence: It's HIGHLY unlikely to get a good evidence in this case by taking screenshots, it's recommended to film everything. Make sure the video shows the whole area by turning the camera, so everyone in the area can be seen.
Good example: VIDEO 1 | VIDEO 2 | VIDEO 3 | VIDEO 4
Bad example: SCREENSHOT (This is insufficient evidence because it's not clear enough. Firstly, you can't say who sent you flying because there are 2 players and secondly, it's not clear that someone hacked you or you just use /hjump or /sr CMDs.)
Additional information: This often happens in copchases and when it does, get out of your car as soon as possible and try to film the hacker.

Weapon Hacks
What is it: Allows you to spawn weapons.
How to detect it: If you see someone with a weapon at the spawnpoints in world 0, it means that he's using hacks to spawn them because it's not possible to get weapons there without hacks. Spawning weapons at these locations in other worlds is however possible, so make sure the evidence clearly shows that it occurred in world 0 (for example by making the xMovie sign or the spawn pick-ups visible).
Miniguns, satchel charges and goggles are nowhere possible to spawn, except by a VIP or admin. Anyone holding any of these weapons who is not VIP or admin, is cheating. A screenshot of the minigun symbol in the kill log is not enough because it can also indicate a kill by a Hunter machinegun. However, there is a distinction in kill messages on IRC, which makes screenshots of minigun kills from IRC valid evidence.
Weapons can also be spawned as sticked objects with /ostick or /postick, which is possible everywhere. If they aim the weapon, it is a real weapon and not an object.
In minigames the hack can be detected when other weapons than those allowed by the gamemode are being used. It is however possible to have guns during the countdown of a copchase.
How to get evidence: Screenshots are sufficient here as long as the weapon is visible in their hands.
Good example: SCREENSHOT
Bad example: SCREENSHOT (Possibly a Hunter's machine gun.)
Additional information: N/A

Aimbot
What is it: Allows you to always hit someone when you shoot.
How to detect it: Try to find out if the suspected player misses any shots at all. Try to get other players away from yourself and the suspected player so any shots that miss you can't hit someone else standing behind you. Pay attention to the direction the suspected player is aiming at and the direction of his bullet. A big difference in angle could indicate aimbot.
How to get evidence: Unless there's perfect timing, you simply can't report this hack by taking pictures. Always film in this situation. The video should be long and contain multiple moments where the aimbot can clearly be seen, because it can easily be confused with good aim.
Good example: VIDEO 1 | VIDEO 2
Bad example: VIDEO (Not clear enough to prove his guilt.)
Additional information: N/A.

Rapidfire
What is it: Allows you to shoot as fast as a minigun with any weapon.
How to detect it: Watch how fast the suspected player can shoot his bullets. Don't confuse this with c-bug, which will also allow you to shoot faster but not as fast as a minigun.
How to get evidence: Considering the fact that they shoot VERY fast, it causes a lot of sparks where they shoot and you can get that on a screenshot, but it's likely to be insufficient evidence, filming is recommended.
Good example: VIDEO
Bad example: VIDEO (Even if the guy seems to be shooting fast at some point, it could've been C-Bugging.)
Additional information: N/A.

AirBreak/speed hacks
What is it: Allows you to fly, drive, walk or dive at high speeds.
How to detect it:Watch the suspected player and see if he's moving at a very high speed or flying. Jetpacks can be invisible to other players due to a bad synch, making it look like flying hacks, so the movement and speed must be clearly distinguishable from a jetpack's movement. The commands /movespeed, /jump, /hjump, /sjump, /setrotation and /reverse each have their own specific effect on how you move, which may not be confused with cheats.
How to get evidence: Screenshots are insufficient. The exact movement and speed is important, therefore only a video can be valid evidence.
Good example: VIDEO 1 | VIDEO 2
Bad example: IMAGE (This does not show any actual flying or abnormal speed).
VIDEO (This is an unsynched jetpack.)
Additional information: N/A.

Fake kill hacks
What is it: Shows lots of fake kills in the kill log with the cheater being the one who kills or gets killed in every kill.
How to detect it: Look at the kill log (F9) and see if the victim or killer is always the same person.
How to get evidence: Screenshots can be confusing in many situations because the kill log can only show a few kills at once, please film in this situation. Screenshots from IRC will usually not be sufficient because IRC often fails to display all of the kills. The evidence must clearly distinguish the cheater from other players.
Good example: VIDEO
Bad example: SCREENSHOT (This screenshot can also show that the player simply got killed multiple times in a row, it would be insufficient evidence.)
Additional information: N/A.

Bot spawner hacks
What is it: Creates multiple bots joining a server.
How to detect it: If you see the chat log getting spammed with joining players rapidly after each other, it's most likely to be a bot spawner. Usually the bots have similar names and the first one who joins controls them all.
How to get evidence: Film if you can, otherwise make screenshots ingame or on IRC. Multiple screenshots can have the same value as a video.
Good example: SCREENSHOT (You can see that all of them joined in just a matter of seconds, also spamming the chat.)
Bad example: SCREENSHOT (You can see many SergiuTatar(s) joining, but other players are joining in the meantime and also it took a lot of time in this situation for all of them to join, meaning they could be friends with almost the same name and some of them are even leaving.)
Additional information: N/A.

Teleport hacks
What is it: Allows you to teleport anywhere you want.
How to detect it: Spectate the suspected player and see if he's teleporting where he normally shouldn't be able to teleport OR see if he teleports to you in minigames, for instance in a copchase, if someone suddenly appears near you once the copchase has begun, it's teleport hacks.
How to get evidence: Screenshots are insufficient, only a video can show a player suddenly appearing somewhere after teleporting.
Good example: VIDEO
Bad example: W.I.P.
Additional information: Note that people can teleport when out of minigames by simply setting a GPS point on their big map after they press ESC, although this is also not allowed.

Parkour mod
What is it: Allows you to jump higher than usual.
How to detect it: Spectate or follow the suspected player while filming his actions.
Getting evidence: It's recommended to use videos because screenshots can be slightly confusing and rather insufficient proof.
Good example: VIDEO
Bad example: W.I.P.
Additional information: This is allowed in main worlds.

Other forbidden modifications not mentioned above
What is it: Any modification that gives you an advantage over others.
How to detect it: Spectate or follow the suspected player while filming his actions.
Getting evidence: It's recommended to use videos because screenshots can be slightly confusing and rather insufficient proof.
Good example: N/A.
Bad example: N/A
Additional information: N/A.

Abusing the CC World
What is it: It's possible that a player gets bugged in a copchase and is able to use all commands as if he was in world 0. Using this bug to interfere in the copchase is considered as abuse.
How to detect it: Usually you can see who's abusing by looking at their names, they are either colored and/or not shown in the copchase players list.
How to get evidence: Screenshot or video.
Good example: VIDEO
Bad example: SCREENSHOT (This screenshot doesn't really show that the action happened in copchase world or just in a normal world, making it insufficient evidence.)
Additional information:N/A.

Causing fire at the beginning of CC
What is it: Causing a fire at the beginning of a copchase, during the countdown, when it's still possible to use weapons.
How to detect it: You can join the copchase yourself and see who's holding a fire causing weapon at the beginning, which could be either a rocket launcher, molotov cocktails or a flamethrower.
Getting evidence: Screenshot or video.
Good example: SCREENSHOT
Bad example: SCREENSHOT (The player indeed has a Rocket Launcher in his hands and there's fire at the cars, that doesn't necessarily mean he's the one who did that because copchase starts only with more people so anyone else could have done it.)
Additional information: N/A.
